As an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic you will be responsible for performing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial air conditioning and refrigeration systems that provide a variety of functions such as heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, circulating, and filtering. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will be responsible for repairing and maintaining a variety of large commercial, industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems and supporting equipment with complex problems and extensive repairs requiring judgment to locate malfunctions. You will select tools, decide on methods and techniques to use and install a variety of parts. You will make repairs to faulty equipment to keep inoperative time to a minimum. You will calculate airflow and pressure-temperature characteristics. You will read and interpret detailed equipment blueprints, electrical schematics, drawings and specifications for proper installation. You will troubleshoot a variety of large commercial and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems and supporting equipment.
