Description
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/06/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-10. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-10 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: technical work in drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems; trade or craft work if the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents and with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities (i.e., a planner/estimator analyzing designs for production purposes, or instrument/model maker performing design or development work on devices fabricated). This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a Ph.D. or 3 years of successfully completed progressively higher level graduate education from an accredited institution leading to a doctorate in a field directly related to the position (i.e., engineering, construction, industrial technology, etc.). Transcripts required. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond graduate education as described that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience must be detailed in your resume and transcripts required. Physical Requirements: Physical demands involve walking, stooping, sitting, climbing ladders, standing, and long periods of intense concentration. Crawls on rooftops and under buildings to investigate equipment malfunctions and recommend alternate methods and/or other resolutions as routinely. Lifts objects 10 to 40 pounds (ie: test equipment, tools, etc.) on a regular and recurring basis, but may be required to lift heavier objects, as needed. Duties include, but are not limited to: Preventative System Maintenance & Repair Inspects and evaluates new electronic low voltage systems upon receipt to determine that all government regulations, manufacturer specifications, and contract requirements are met; Evaluates, identifies and provides corrective action and recommendations for equipment system malfunctions of complex microprocessor-based systems that utilize state of the art technology and have vitally interrelated and sometimes dispersed subsystems; Performs electronically challenging interfacing to ensure the separate systems provide proper communication with one another; Recognizes hazardous conditions and procedures with electronic instrumentation systems and initiates appropriate preventive or corrective action; and determines whether a system is to be removed from, be restored to, or allowed to remain in service in clinical areas; Exercises extensive skill and originality to keep equipment functioning by recommending, developing, implementing, redesigning, reconfiguring, or modifying operating procedures to reduce equipment failures, eliminate hazards, or enhance accuracy and reliability; Plans, schedules and perform emergency maintenance on low voltage equipment to ensure that this equipment is operating and calibrated in compliance with codes and standards; Electronics Technical Support and Analysis Serves as a technical advisor, subject matter expert (SME) or consultant to physicians, engineers, a
