Work Schedule: This is a Per Diem/PRN position; hours will be "as needed" and the start and end times will vary. Availability to cover nights and Saturdays.Job Responsibilities: Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic examPerform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimensSection the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slidePerform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sectionsProcess mounted sections through routine and special staining proceduresProperly orient and embed surgical tissue specimensPrepare the stains and reagents needed for special proceduresReport accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care Operate and maintain manual and automated instrumentsPerform and document equipment maintenance as neededRecord equipment log data in an accurate and timely mannerPerform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policiesFollow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reportingDocument problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as neededMinimum Qualifications:Associate's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology3 years of experience as a Histotechnician with embedding and cutting experience Preferred Qualifications:1 or more years of immunohistochemistry experience1 or more years experience working in a high volume hospital laboratory environment(HT) ASCP certification Additional Job Standards:In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirementFamiliarity with routine histology procedures and equipmentComfortability embedding both large and small specimens Ability to accurately read all labels and documentsHighly organized with a strong attention to detailFamiliarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocolsMust be able to pass a standardized color vision screenWe are seeking Histology Professionals to join the LabCorp team where we are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical laboratory services.
