Interdisciplinary Historic Cultural Resources Management Specialist - U.S. Coast Guard

Basic Requirements: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience or substitution of education for experience or combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified. Degree: history; or related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history. OR B. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in history, or a major in a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Developed and implemented historic preservation policies and evaluated treatment strategies for historic assets. Assisted in preparing and managing program agreements and mitigation plans for environmental initiatives. Conducted fieldwork to assess historic sites, prepared HABS/HAER documentation, and recommended actions to meet SOI standards. Researched and compiled resource information, prepared eligibility determinations, and drafted National Register nominations. Ensured project compliance with NEPA and applied preservation statutes to protect natural and cultural resources. You will serve as a Interdisciplinary Historic Cultural Resources Management Specialist and will work with a multidisciplinary workforce comprised of civilian and military professionals including engineers, planners, real property specialist, other technician, financial managers, contracting specialists, and support staff executing programs, projects, and activities of a local, regional, and/or national scope, as well providing mission support for specific units or local initiatives. Typical work assignments include: Provides technical guidance and subject matter expertise for the management, preservation, and conservation of historic assets and cultural resources, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations Develops and implements environmental planning for projects, ensuring compliance with NEPA and other environmental mandates, and integrates resource protection into project execution. Assists in developing, implementing, and managing policies, procedures, agreements, and mitigation plans for historic asset preservation and cultural resource management. Conducts field assessments, site surveys, research, and documentation to identify, evaluate, and determine eligibility of historic and cultural resources, including preparing National Register nominations and HABS/HAER documentation. Engages with stakeholders, responds to complex inquiries, and collaborates with experts to support management decisions, address documentation gaps, and recommend preservation strategies. Must obtain and maintain a CG-issued National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Warrant and Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) certification.
