General Engineer - U.S. Coast Guard

To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal or private sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Provides technical expertise in the formulation of systems engineering policies and procedures. Provides assistance in translating performance requirements into design criteria and testing activities to ensure performance requirements are satisfied. Recommends revisions and alternative approaches to better achieve required cost, schedule and performance goals. Consults and advises management on operational and systems engineering planning issues. NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level. You will serve as a/an General Engineer and be responsible for developing and implementing systems engineering policies and processes for Coast Guard acquisition programs and provide systems engineering advice to these programs and Program Managers in the implementation of systems engineering within the programs. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Applying knowledge of systems engineering practices and principles in analyzing, developing, coordinating and applying Systems Engineering processes to all aspects of major and non-major systems acquisition. Providing advice and guidance to major acquisition program personnel concerning design reviews, test readiness reviews, configuration audits and other engineering related programmatic review/audits. Providing oversight of Coast Guard programs' systems engineering implementation. Recommending revisions and alternative approaches to better achieve required cost, schedule and performance goals.
