To qualify for the position, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of a Materials Handler. These duties require skill in Operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or similar material handling equipment. Receiving, inspecting, and processing incoming and outgoing shipments. Storing, stacking, palletizing, and moving materials within a warehouse environment. Maintaining inventory records and shipping/receiving documentation.. Applicants must meet the following Screen-Out element, Ability to do the work of a Materials Handler (PPW) without more than normal supervision to be considered for this position. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the online questionnaire. If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT ELEMENT below is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. The screen-out element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Materials Handler (PPW) without more than normal supervision. In addition to the requirements above, GPO employees competing under merit promotion procedures must meet all of the following criteria in accordance with Federal Merit Promotion Plan, GPO Instruction 615.2C (Appendix B): 1. Have completed a formal, recognized apprenticeship or GPO journeyperson training program, or possess substantially equivalent practical experience in the trade of the vacancy; AND 2. Have at least 1 year of journeyperson experience subsequent to completion of the above apprenticeship or training; AND 3. Have served a minimum of 1 year in Career or Career-Conditional appointment in the GPO.(add supervisory statement from MP Plan). 4. Have served at least 1 year in an administrative or supervisory capacity. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement to be considered. Operates an electric powered lift trucks having a lift capacity up to 4,000 pounds and capable of carrying, lifting, and stacking loads of metal and debris waste of varying dimensions. Receives incoming and outgoing shipments including new procurement, receipts and returns from using activities. Processes and verifies quantities and condition of materials and equipment. Checks for property/part number, nomenclature, quantity, and condition for agreement with accompanying documents. Completes and maintains a log of incoming shipment.
