Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Mobile Equipment Driving Tester Inspector without more than normal supervision to include retrieving information using automated systems and complete reports of findings on inspections. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability To Inspect Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Operation of Motor Vehicles Reliability and Dependability as a Mobile Equipment Operator Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort: Moderate physical effort is required in the handling of objects weighing from 15 to 44 pounds. Required to reach, bend, turn or move hands, arms, feet and legs to operate hand and foot controls of vehicles and equipment. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside. Incumbent is subject to accidents and injuries while testing unskilled operators, and due to traffic hazards, etc.
Perform inspections on equipment such as materials handling equipment, stock selectors, automotive, heavy equipment, tank and locomotives
Conduct periodic refresher courses to operators to train on new equipment, violations, or new procedures indicating the need for more training.
Rate automotive equipment on testing criteria such as manipulation, sudden stops, observation of road signs, signaling, parking, backing, and turning.
Show films to inform personnel of proper operation and preventive maintenance requirement.
Schedule personnel for testing and maintain the associated records.
Issue permits upon completion of required training.
This is a Term position scheduled to last 1 year and 1 day. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six - eight years depending upon the needs of management.
Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
