Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprinting reading) Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment Knowledge of materials. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic Leader and be responsible for performing various leader duties for Industrial Support Detachment (ISD) S. Weymouth of the Industrial Division, USCG Integrated Support Command (ISC) Boston, MA. . Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Responsible for buoy refurbishing trade functions as well as logistics coordinating. Responsible for the valuation, diagnosing extent of overhaul and correction of problems associated with buoys. Responsible for computerized scheduling of buoys meeting operational needs of Coast Guard Cutters and Aids to Navigation Teams. Responsible for quarterly maintenance progress reports via spreadsheets, and manual shipping/receiving logs.
